UPVC Replacement Door Handles

Over time, the handles on your doors will wear down and will require replacement. It is important to keep the same dimensions as the handles that were previously used when replacing them.

The three measurements to be inspected are the top screw's position the lever and key hole sizes. Use the size guide to aid you.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever handle or lever is a modern door handle designed to suit new or replacement doors. This type of handle is available in various styles and finishes. A variety of manufacturers provide this handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The handles of uPVC/Composite are constructed from robust materials, and are perfect for doors with multiple points that require a strong design. The handles are inline and operate with the same spindle as well as screw fixings so they can be easily fitted to existing or new uPVC/Composite doors.

The sprung lever design allows the handle to be set and angled to ensure a comfortable experience and is suitable for all users. The handle has been endurance tested to 200,000 cycles. This helps to ensure the quality of the finish and performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever is also adjustable to fit a wide range of locks. This is useful in doors that are narrower, where the cylinder is situated further back from the door. A lever that is shorter can be used for doors with latches which can be operated with the thumb located on the inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle is distinct from the lever handles that are found on most doors. These handles can operate from a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two inline or offset spindles (pad). They are usually used on UPVC doors with double glazing and come in a range of finishes & variations.

The handles have been tested to the minimum of 200 000 cycles and are available in various finishes including White, Silver, Chrome & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to corrosion. This provides the handle with a high performance and long-lasting durability for its intended use.

this website  of the UPVC lever pad designs come with screws and a spindle that allow them to be fitted on a new or existing uPVC door. The backplate fixing centers of 211mm allow for a larger handle, which is often a benefit when replacing a damaged or worn multi point door lock mechanism. These levers for handles are also spring-loaded, which solves the issue of door handles sagging from their horizontal position when they are not in use.

It is important to ensure that the PZ dimensions of both the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC doors when selecting the replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement can also be called 'handle centres or cylinder centre'. It is important for matching the correct handles.

Once you have decided on the correct PZ size it is important to make sure that the lever and push pads are shaped to fit the American with Disabilities Act compliant handles that you need for your door. They are typically round or square with an internal lever, and an external push pad.

The majority of UPVC lever pads that we sell are sprung, meaning that they return to their horizontal position after not in use, rather than hanging out and potentially sticking in the frame. This prevents drafts and cold air from getting into a house. Also, the majority of UPVC handle lever pad style handles are handed which allows you to place them on either side of the door.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other kinds of doors. They work by using a key that unlock a cylinder case that will reveal pins that can be aligned to those in the lock body, allowing them to turn the cam, thereby opening the door. Euro Cylinders are available with up to six pins. Internal and external doors require different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder is essential. It's dependent on the amount of use your doors and handles receive. For instance, exterior doors must be secured with a higher security cylinder, whilst internal doors can be secured with the standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders come with additional features that increase security even more, like anti-drill or anti-bump features.

A euro cylinder should be measured accurately to ensure that it is the right size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the screw hole in the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn should there be one. If you are unable to measure using the lock in a fixed position, you can take it out of it. It is crucial to not have a cylindrical lock that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This can make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.

Most modern cylinders are designed with anti-drill and bump resistance features included in their design. These are designed to reduce the chance of attack by forcing cylinders to turn in a different direction. This can help to deflect an attack and keep your door safe.

There are cylinders that have been made to resist snapping. This is an increasingly common kind of attack on cylinders where the break line in the lock is targeted with a special tool to break the front of the cylinder to allow the door to be opened. This is a faster and more convenient method of gaining access than through the use of a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the break-in which can hinder insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is located within the base of your door handle's backplate providing a sprung solution that returns your multipoint lock handles to their normal position after use. There was a time when handles of this kind did not have a spring built into them, and without it they are more likely to slide or  drop once the locking mechanism is disengaged. Adding this simple component is among the most effective ways to fix this issue and is a great way to prevent your doors made of upvc from becoming stuck in the open or closed position, as these aren't always simple to close manually.

The spring cassettes were made to be used with a spring multipoint lock. They will not fit unsprung handles and you'll need to cut a hole in the backplate to allow them to fit. (Please look at the image for a more detailed diagram). They are a replacement for broken or missing cassettes within the door handle backplate of various brands of uPVC doors. They are sold as one unit. They come with a square cut out that accommodates an 8mm shaft.

These spring cassettes are an excellent value solution for the issue of door handles that have become sagging. They are simple to put in and will prolong the lifespan of your uPVC doors.
